Rising Dublin outfit Basht. have released their impassioned new single, “Kids Vs Guns,” serving as the latest preview of their forthcoming debut album, Poor Advice, out 9th October via LAB Records.
Following earlier teasers “Terror TV,” “Keira Knightley,” and “Perfume,” “Kids Vs Guns” trades the group’s lightning-fast post-punk energy for heavy, tumbling guitar riffs and direct vocal delivery. Recorded alongside producer Ali Chant (Dry Cleaning, Perfume Genius, PJ Harvey), the track stands as the album’s most explicit statement, addressing the human cost of the ongoing crisis and genocide in Palestine.
Evolving from a poem into one of the record’s focal points, frontperson and guitarist Jack Leavey outlined the deeply personal origins behind the track:
“This song started off as a poem written in response to the genocide in Palestine, it highlights the one sided conflict where innocent children are left in the direct firing line. Kids Vs Guns is my favourite song off the album and my proudest.”
Building momentum through high-energy live performances, Basht. have developed a dedicated fanbase following UK and Irish tour dates with DEADLETTER, Everything Everything, and Wunderhorse, as well as festival appearances across The Great Escape, Truck, Liverpool Sound City, and Dot To Dot. “Kids Vs Guns” is available to stream globally now, with Poor Advice arriving October 9th.
