Dublin-born songwriter Sorcha Richardson has officially returned with her first new music since her chart-topping sophomore album, Smiling Like An Idiot. Titled “Grenadine,” the track serves as a ruminative and deeply personal introduction to the next chapter of her career. Written in West Kerry and produced by Belfast’s Chris Ryan, the force behind records for Chalk and Just Mustard, the single finds Richardson balancing warm, textured guitars with atmospheric Hammond organ layers to create a soundscape that feels both expansive and intimate.

The release follows a period of significant momentum for the Irish artist, who has earned a Choice Music Prize nomination and over 80 million streams to date. Known for a songwriting style that resonates with peers and high-profile fans alike, Richardson’s latest work delves into the quiet, often disorienting moments of personal transformation. Of the new single, she explains:

‘Grenadine’ is kind of a crisis of faith… in myself, in relationships, in what I thought to be true about life. Sometimes life’s most devastating moments occur so quietly as to trick you into thinking nothing’s changed at all. It takes a long time to make sense of it. This is a way of reaching for things you still know to be true, no matter how small, to ground yourself in rocky waters.
