Philadelphia shoegaze icons Nothing have announced their fifth studio album, a short history of decay, set for release on February 27 via Run For Cover Records. The record marks a new creative peak for the band, blending their signature wall of sound with a raw emotional clarity that reflects on time, truth, and the body’s gradual transformation.

The album arrives with a reinvigorated lineup: guitarist Doyle Martin (Cloakroom), bassist Bobb Bruno (Best Coast), drummer Zachary Jones (MSC, Manslaughter 777), and guitarist Cam Smith (Ladder To God, Cloakroom) join frontman Domenic “Nicky” Palermo. Together, they have created a work that feels both expansive and deeply personal, with Palermo confronting themes of ageing, illness, and memory in a way that feels more direct than ever before.

Alongside the announcement, Nothing have shared the album’s lead single and video, “cannibal world.” The track captures the band’s trademark intensity while introducing a sense of vulnerability that hints at the emotional scope of the full record.

To celebrate the release, Nothing will host their own festival, Slide Away, with dates in New York City, Chicago, and Los Angeles. The shows will feature appearances from Hum, Chapterhouse, Swirlies, and more, and will also mark the 10th anniversary of their acclaimed album Tired of Tomorrow.
