Crocodylus Emerge from the Underground with “Limbo,” Their Boldest Track Yet

Sydney’s garage-punk powerhouses Crocodylus are back, kicking off 2025 with their explosive new single “Limbo”, out now via their newly signed label, ORiGiN Recordings. The release comes alongside a sharp, surreal music video directed by Nathan Rathsam and Sinead Campion, featuring cult Australian actor Tiriel Mora (of The Castle fame).

Formed in 2015 from a high school friendship between Josh Williams and Stephen Sacco, the band soon expanded into the four-piece fans know today, with Mikel Salvador Jara and Nick Meadows completing the lineup. Known for their electrifying live shows and chaotic charm, Crocodylus have carved out their place in Australia’s thriving punk scene, sharing stages with heavy-hitters like The Chats, Ocean Alley, and Hockey Dad.

Their new single “Limbo” marks a confident step forward, raw, high-tempo, and full of emotional grit. It’s a song that questions identity and place, while showcasing the band’s growing musical ambition with its mix of ferocity and melody. The band explain,

“With Limbo we wanted to create something called ‘beautiful punk’, it’s fast, gets heavier in the bridge and all comes together at the end with a tempo change and the addition of strings. This song is about not knowing where we fit into the music scene. Trying to dig ourselves out of the place we sit and starting again. It took a while to nail this one, but we’re stoked where we landed with it.”

The accompanying video leans into the song’s themes of repetition and frustration, turning the concept of “limbo” into a visual loop of modern monotony. Mikel shares,

“The video clip for Limbo was shot in one busy day with a wonderful crew led by co-directors Nathan Rathsam and Sinead Campion. Somehow, we managed to swing cult hero Tiriel Mora in the lead role, it was challenging not to call him Dennis Denuto during the shoot. The video explores the aspect of limbo through a Groundhog Day-like lens, the monotony of the western five-day working week and its repression of the working class. Also we got to be silly and dance around with Tiriel and blow a saxophone in his face, what a good sport.”

With their signing to ORiGiN Music Group, covering both global recording and publishing deals, Crocodylus are entering an exciting new phase, cementing their reputation as one of Australia’s most dynamic and forward-thinking punk outfits. “Limbo” is just the beginning.
