London five-piece pencil return with their new single “Wingman,” out today via State51. The release marks a moment of transition for the band, following the departure of Cai Burns and the addition of Soph Nathan (Our Girl, The Big Moon), with both musicians contributing to the track. Recorded with Polly Mackey (Art School Girlfriend) and mixed by Luciano Rossi (mui zyu), “Wingman” captures the beauty and tension of change.
Speaking about the song, the band said,
“‘Wingman’ is a song about endings, beginnings and the spaces in between.”
Building on the momentum of their acclaimed EP Bohemian Clutter, pencil continue to impress with their rich, melodic sound and captivating live performances, including standout sets at Green Man and The Great Escape. “Wingman” signals the start of an exciting new phase for one of London’s most promising acts.
