Copenhagen-based duo 100%WET today released “Leave It,” a new single blending breakbeat-infused dreampop, shoegaze, and drum ‘n’ bass, which they are labelling “hypergaze.” The track precedes their self-titled debut album, scheduled for release on May 16th via Crunchy Frog Recordings.

“Leave It” features ethereal vocals from collaborator Amalie Hannibal Petri, layered over a complex sonic landscape of phaser-drenched, grunge-influenced guitar riffs and sustained drones. As the track progresses, a vaporwave-inspired down-pitching effect is introduced, warping the sound and reflecting the song’s lyrical themes of emotional release. The single offers a glimpse into the band’s innovative approach to genre fusion, setting the stage for their highly anticipated debut album.

Of the track, the duo, Jakob Birch and Casper Munn explain,

This track plays with contrast, it’s nostalgic, but also about moving on. The groove feels loose and baggy, but the production is sharp and intentional. That kind of push and pull – between past and future, chaos and control – is a huge part of what excites us musically.

The release of “Leave It” follows previously unveiled singles “Over Me,” “Ether,” and “Lost Myself,” each contributing to the growing anticipation surrounding the band’s debut. The upcoming album, a product of sonic experimentation, underscores 100%WET’s commitment to expanding the boundaries of rock music by integrating electronic elements, all while maintaining a strong emotional resonance.
