UK rock stalwarts You Me At Six recently dropped new single SUCKAPUNCH amidst news of the imminent release of their seventh studio album on January 15th 2021. The track comes with a video. Listen and watch below.

Recent years have seen the four-piece embracing a new direction in their sound as they seek to move further away from their late-noughties emo roots. Latest single SUCKAPUNCH builds on the transition created by their previous single Beautiful Way and marks an ephemeral shift towards electronica.

Speaking about the new single, lead vocalist Josh Franceschi said:

Suckapunch is about reclaiming your own consciousness when you’ve lost it along the way. ‘Rise from the wreckage that you left behind’ is really something that we’ve collectively experienced as a band. It’s a universal statement for recovering from a difficult time when you’ve been left behind.

Without doubt, You Me At Six have made a herculean, genre-defeating noise with this latest single. Although it remains to be seen whether fans from their Take Off Your Colours days will embrace the tinny drum machine splattered across it.

For those open to change, their seventh album is being tipped as their most creatively ambitious with themes rooted in reflection and redemption. Recorded over five weeks at Karma Sound studio in Bang Saray, Thailand, the album is an extension of a tumultuous period in the band members personal lives as they came to grips with new life scenarios.

You Me At Six will also return to the live stage in 2021 for their first live dates in a year. A series of intimate album launch shows across the UK will begin on July 6th at Pryzm in Kingston Upon Thames. All tickets are on general sale as of now.
