London-based indie pop trio Whenyoung have just revealed their new single The Others alongside an emotive video. The track is taken from their debut album Reasons To Dream, which will be released via Virgin EMI on May 24th. Listen and watch below.
Written after the Grenfell Tower fire in London, the songs juxtaposes those rich enough to live in safety with the residents of Grenfell Tower. Vocalist Aoife Power, who was working for a gardening company in the are at the time comments: “Living in safety should not be a luxury.”
The group started out in their hometown of Limerick, Ireland where Aoife Power (bass/vocals), Niall Burns (guitar) and Andrew Flood (drums) first met. Whenyoung was formed when the trio relocated to London.
Since then, they have played numerous shows and festivals in the UK and Europe and have supported the likes of Sundara Karma and The Vaccines among others. On May 26th, they will appear at Neighbourhood Weekender. All dates and ticket links can be found below.
