Yesterday night, Bloc Party debuted their controversial new single The Love Within live on the Late Show with James Gordon.
When I first heard The Love Within, I figured it sounded like something from Kele’s solo work rather than a Bloc Party song. Although I like the live version slightly better, it still feels like the other band members don’t have a lot to do, particularly drummer Louise Bartle and guitarist Russell Lissack seem underemployed. Watch the video below.
The Love Within is their first release since the departure of founding members Gordon Moakes and Matt Tong. Tong and Moakes have since been replaced with Justin Harris (bass) and Louise Bartle (drums) respectively.
The Love Within is taken from Bloc Party’s forthcoming 5th studio album HYMNS set for release on January 29th via Infectious Music. The band is heading out on an intimate club tour across Europe this fall and will headline the NME Awards Tour early next year. Dates are below.
