Today, London based TV Priest have shared their latest offering from their upcoming second album, My Other People, arriving in the form of ‘It Was Beautiful’. The single is the 4th to be taken from the album, which is set for release on June 17th via Sub-Pop.

Speaking of the single, lead vocalist, Charlie Drinkwater, states:

‘It Was Beautiful’ is a love song about the past, present, and future. A reminder that love is the most essential thing. The words came fast; it was recorded in a single emotive session, the first song we wrote together after my family had gone through a difficult experience and I think you can hear that in the kind of melancholy euphoria that plays out as the song progresses. In some ways it’s a coda to the whole album; a reminder to guard your hope fiercely.’

Partnering with its release, the band have also shared its accompanying one-shot music video – which was directed, produced and filmed by the band in East London.

New Album ‘My Other People’ Arrives in June

My Other People follows on from TV Priest’s 2021 debut album, Uppers, and features today’s single, and other highlights ‘Limehouse Cut’, ‘One Easy Thing’, and ‘Bury Me In My Shoes’. The band’s international touring in support of the album continues on June 5th, in Brittany, France and continues through the year with the band making stops across Europe and a full-length UK tour.

My Other People maintains a strong sense of emotion, allowing the band to take full advantage of the opportunity to really connect with their listeners. My Other People, set for release on June 17th via Sub Pop Records, is the follow up to the bands highly acclaimed debut, Uppers.

Accompanying the album’s announcement, the band have shared the albums lead single, Bury Me In My Shoes and have announced their UK tour, and in-store performances.

Speaking of the single, frontman Charlie Drinkwater states:

‘Bury Me In My Shoes’ is a hangover of a song. Last year was about reminding ourselves to hang on to good things; to remember you can love and hate in equal measure. That the answers are rarely found by looking backwards. “Bury Me” was written as a response to that general feeling of unease and creeping dread. A feeling you get from bad news on no breakfast.

On the album, he continues:

My Other People is a more ‘open’ set of songs, both musically and in our themes; in the process of writing we found ourselves talking about things other than anger. We wanted to discuss love, loss and joy too. It’s a record about personal disintegration and destruction, but also rebuilding again after this. It’s also heavily rooted in place, the music being a very direct response to Britain and England in 2021, but in a more abstract and textural sense. A muddy field viewed from a train window between cities, a patch of wild flowers growing next to a motorway, sticky carpets in a suburban flat roof pub, pissing rain on an August bank holiday and the smell of diesel in an out of town supermarket car park. An angry, hopeful, shitty, beautiful island.
