The Wombats‘ frontman Matthew ‘Murph’ Murphy has announced his brand new solo project, Love Fame Tragedy whose debut single My Cheating Heart, featuring singer and model Maddi Jean Waterhouse on lead vocals, debuted as Annie Mac’s Hottest Record on BBC Radio 1 last night. The track comes with a video available below.
The group’s debut EP I Don’t Want To Play The Victim, But I’m Really Good At It is due September via Good Soldier Songs / AWAL Recordings and features collaborators including Joey Santiago (Pixies), Gus Unger-Hamilton (Alt-J), model and singer Maddi Jean Waterhouse, and Matt Chamberlin (Soundgarden, Pearl Jam).
My Cheating Heart was produced by Mark Crew (Bastille, Rag’n’Bone Man) and sets the tone for the forthcoming EP. Love Fame Traged was named after a seminal Pablo Picasso exhibition at the Tate Modern.
This September, the group will play a handful of intimate shows at Liverpool’s Arts Club, Manchester’s Gorilla, London’s Moth Club, and Maze in Berlin. Throughout September and October, they will hit the road in the US and Australia. All tour dates and ticket links can be fond below.
