Doncaster’s finest The Outcharms returned with their latest offering, To Be Young and in Love, last Friday. The track sees the four-piece reveal a stripped back sound, an uplifting offering which will help listeners escape from reality, something that everybody is pining for in these dark times.

Since forming back in 2014, the band have made a name for themselves with their Britpop inspired tracks, having a huge impact on the Doncaster music scene and gaining a massive local following. The bands previous releases, Lazy and (Who’s Making You) Smile? have gained over 150,000 streams on Spotify alone, The Outcharms are destined for success with To Be Young and in Love.

The song sees the band take a new approach, turning over a new leaf for the four-piece, featuring jangly instrumentation and smooth vocals, these paired beautifully with intricate, meaningful songwriting that many would be envious of.

Speaking about the track, frontman Curtis states

We’ve always wanted progress in terms of our sound with each new tune. The poppy, jangly sound is something that is quite prevalent in all our influences, so it made sense to explore that side of things.

The Outcharms have had radio play from the likes of BBC Introducing Sheffield and have sold out iconic venues such as Sheffield’s The Leadmill, and have also played their sold-out headline show at Doncaster’s The Leopard.
