Today sees Scottish band The Ninth Wave release their latest single, Human Behaviour. Taken from the remaining half of their debut album Infancy Part II, the track is the last single to be released from the album before it’s release on November 15th. Listen below.
Human Behaviour sees The Ninth Wave mature as a band and sees them use orchestral instrumentation for the first time. Co-vocalist Millie Kidd’s wonderful piano chords intertwine beautifully with Haydn Park-Patterson’s vocals, with the lyric ‘we could just exist, it’s better than saying goodbye’ telling the story of a breakdown of a relationship.
Speaking of the track, The Ninth Wave state:
[Human Behaviour] was written during the end of a long term relationship, and is an expression of the helplessness felt when two people involved know that there’s nothing to save.
It’s been an amazing two years for The Ninth Wave, previous singles Imitation and This Broken Design have both been in heavy rotation on BBC Radio 1. Just this year the band have supported The Blinders and Yonaka across the UK and Europe, whilst also supporting Chrvches at the SSE Hydro arena in Glasgow. Some of The Ninth Wave’s best work is yet to be released upon Infancy Part II, and with it’s release the band are only going to go from strength to strength.
