Following on from recent single Ones and Zeros, The Elephant Trees return with their new single Sorry, a song that is essentially an open letter to loved ones from someone dealing with mental illness. The track is part of the band’s forthcoming debut EP, Terra Incognita, out physcially 10th June 2022 via frontwoman Martha’s own label Ignition Records.

Martha comments on the track:

I wrote this song in a couple hours, they always come quicker when they’re from a dark place. Straight after an argument where I shut down and couldn’t speak, this was everything I was trying to say but my body wouldn’t let me. It’s a really personal no filter kind of song, so I hope you like it.

On the forthcoming EP, which deals with the pandemic, climate crises and political regression she adds:

[these issues] bring great joy to the anxious monster in my head who likes to remind me that everything is awful. However, the monster has an optimistic and curious creature for a roommate, who can see the excitement of living in an era of constant change.

Having received support from the likes of BBC Radio 1, 6 Music, Radio X and BBC Introducing, The Elephant Trees have recently completed a run of UK dates. On April 17th, they will play a rescheduled show at Glasgow’s Nice n’ Sleazy. More dates will be announced shortly.
