The Blinders have today released their new single, Lunatic (With A Loaded Gun), taken from their upcoming second album Fantasies Of A Stay At Home Psychopath, which is due to be released July 17th through Modern Sky. Listen below.

Lunatic (With A Loaded Gun), is an electric anthem of defiance, addressing the rule of money-hungry rulers like Trump, who want to destroy the world for profits, and the guilt of the people who have voted for them.

Speaking about the track, the band commented:

it is a song that was written as a consequence of the USA’s separation policy and the resulting images of children being placed in cages separate from their families. It is perhaps one of the more literal songs we’ve ever produced where we allowed ourselves to take the images directly from the evening news and put them straight into the song.

With the release, The Blinders want to “spark a question of personal responsibility – questioning whether we can do more, as individuals, to prevent such abuse of power and humanity.”

The new single follows on from the release of previous singles Forty Days and Forty Nights and Circle Song. The band’s new album, Fantasies Of A Stay At Home Psychopath, was originally scheduled for release on May 8th but, due to the ongoing coronavirus pandemic, has been postponed to July 17th.

In response to the current situation, the band have debuted the first episode of the ‘Fantasies of A Stay At Home Psychopath’ series, which takes a deeper look into the bands minds, day to day lives and showcases how they’re remaining creative during a challenging time.

Lead singer and guitarist Thomas Haywood has also been busy recording sessions from home, including performances of Oasis’ Half The World Away and a beautiful and emotional cover of the American folk song Cotton Eyed Joe. More sessions are being released on the band’s Facebook page over the coming weeks featuring more covers as well as tracks from the upcoming album.

The band will head on a UK tour this September. Tickets are available here.
