The Academic unveil details for debut album ‘Tales From The Backseat’

Irish quartet The Academic have recently announced their debut album Tales From The Backseat will be released on January 12th via 6 Room Records. The tracklisting and album artwork can be found below.

The Academic have recently supported The Kooks on their European tour and have also opened for the likes of The Strokes, Twenty One Pilots, Noel Gallagher and Catfish And The Bottlemen.

Their latest single, Why Can’t We Be Friends?, was released on November 16th and is streaming below. The single and album were produced by Tim Pagnotta, who has previously wordked with Dreamcar, Wilde Belle, and Saint Motel.

The Academic’s easy going pop rock has already gained widespread airplay from Annie Mac and Huw Stephens as well as comparisons to Northern Irish band Two Door Cinema Club.

Originally founded in 2013, The Academic consists of vocalist and guitarist Craig Fitzgerald, Dean Gavin (drums) and brothers Matt (lead guitar) and Stephen Murtagh (bass).
