Following on from their sophomore album Future Perfect, Present Tense, which was released earlier this year, London band Ten Fé today return with their new single Candidate. The new song was recorded in Oslo at the very end of the album sessions and showcases the songwriting partnership of Ben Moorhouse and Leo Duncan once more, which is at the heart of the band’s sound. Co-produced by Luke Smith (Foals, Petite Noir, Anna of the North) and mixed by Craig Silvey (Arcade Fire, Amen Dunes, Florence & The Machine), the new single picks up where Future Perfect, Present Tense left off.
The band commented on the meaning behind Candidate / Heaven Sent Me:
‘Candidate’ is a song about wanting the person you’re with to commit to you, the relationship, to life. It’s about losing patience with them and their cold feet, ultimately because they’re not sure of who they are: “what’s the point in waiting when you’re not sure what you’re waiting for?” … its saying “JUMP IN! This could be wicked”.
Fronted by Ben Moorhouse and Leo Duncan (songwriters and lead vocals), the band is completed by Rob Shipley (bass, vocals), Johnny Drain (keys, vocals) and Greg Katsantonis (drums).
