One of the current standout post punk bands: shame.

SHAME have this week shared their latest single, Snow Day, taken from their highly anticipated second album, Drunk Tank Pink, available January 15th. The release of Snow Day, follows on from previous singles, Alphabet and Water in the Well. Listen below.

Alongside Snow Day’, the band have also shared its visualiser, featuring drone footage shot in the Scottish borders, where the band wrote Drunk Tank Pink. The band have also announced a livestream, from Rough Trade East, which will premiere on 14th January 2021.

Snow Day is a standout track on Drunk Tank Pink, carried and progressed by the determined drumming from Charlie Forbes, whilst frontman Charlie Steen’s opening, introspective words make way for pushes and pulls which change the tracks mood throughout.

Speaking about Snow Day’, Charlie Steen states:

A lot of this album focuses on the subconscious and dreams, this song being the pivotal moment of these themes. It’s a song about love that is lost and the comfort and displeasure that comes after you close your eyes, fall into sleep, and are forced to confront yourself.

Snow Day alongside the rest of the album, sees the band make a determined leap forward. Drunk Tank Pink came to life as the band readjusted to a ‘new normal’ back home having spent most of their lives on the road, with themes exploring the breakdown of relationships, identity crises and the loss of sense of self.

The band have recently announced a run of socially-distanced live shows across independent venues in the UK, alongside their homecoming show at Brixton Electric next April. Tickets are available here.
