Sam Fender Hypersonic Missile press shot

With a a well deserved Brit’s Choice award in hands, Tyneside’s prodigy Sam Fender has just dropped his brand new single Hypersonic Missile. His first new music of 2019, the track is also a taster from the upcoming (yet untitled) debut album. Listen to Hypersonic Missiles here.

Following on from the huge success of previous singles Play God and Dead Boys, the new track further underlines Sam Fender’s sensitivity for the state of world around us. The title is derived from a newly developed Russian missile travelling about 9 times the speed of sound about which he read in the papers.

According to Sam, Hypersonic Missiles is an “unorthodox love song”. He explains:

It’s main focus is on the world around the narrator, who is a complete tin foil hatter. They are convinced the world is on its last legs… Amongst all the chaos is love and celebration, there is this glimmer of hope that runs through the song… regardless of the imminent doom from these ‘Hypersonic Missiles’.

Sam will play his first US dates later this month including a series of appearances at the iconic SXSW. This side of the pond, his upcoming UK tour has sold out months ago with the EU dates following suit. This summer, he will play numerous festivals throughout the UK and Europe before releasing his debut album (release TBA). All dates and ticket links can be found below.

Hypersonic Missiles is out now via all digital retailers.
