Derry-based artist ROE has just dropped her brand new single I Dare You. Following on from last year’s single Cruel, which saw her playlisted for the first time on BBC Radio 1, I Dare You is a track that speaks about life on the road as an artist. Listen below.

In her own words:

The inevitable drives between shows and home are so ridiculous and difficult and new every time. Staying awake so nobody drives alone and the inescapable stop at the closest McD’s are constant but so much happens in that space. This song is about every unpredictable emotion that stems from adrenaline and exhaustion on the road and the parts of our lives as musicians that nobody ever gets to see.

The Derry-based artist left college to tour the world and concentrate on writing songs. In 2020, ROE crossed 1 million streams on Spotify with her EP Things We Don’t Talk About, which was the culmination of 4 years of writing, releasing and touring as a completely independent artist.

As a teenager, she was a coveted artist on the BBC Introducing Stage at Glastonbury 2017, which led her to perform all over the world including Europe, North America, India, and on tour with Snow Patrol. ROE’s music has been featured in TV and radio campaigns for BBC Music NI, and in ITV’s “The Only Way is Essex”, Channel 4’s “Made in Chelsea”, and Netflix’s “Terrace House”.

I Dare You is part of our New Indie Bands playlist.
