After first breaking onto the scene last year with their brilliant debut single Way Hotter Than Flamingos, a cheeky introduction to the band’s official mascot the pink flamingo, Oxford-based outfit The Jerichos are back once again with their latest tantalising release Even If You Are The Cactus. Listen to it first below.

Fronted by singer, songwriter & guitarist Julian Wagstaff along with Jack Hardy (drums) Jordan Maycock on guitar and backing vocals, George Lambourne on Synth and Micky (bass guitar), Even If You Are The Cactus makes for a wonderfully warm and uplifting return. Channelling a mixture of 60s psych-rock influences with a distinctly modern twist, this new offering has all the hallmarks of a band focused in their sound and direction.

Speaking about the new song, Wagstaff said,

Written back in April 2020, at a time when the world was just beginning to discover the reality of lock down, I was struggling to find inspiration and longed deeply for the rush of excitement that comes with writing new material.

Part of my makeup is that I seem to go through periods of being fascinated with certain objects and things.

Awhile back it was flamingos which was the inspiration for The Jerichos debut single. Time to move on, enter the humble and majestic Cactus.

A song of few words I wanted to capture the moment in time, how things were changing and the uncertainty that people were feeling. But at the same time, I wanted something upbeat, that people could dance to, remembering the good times.

The Jerichos’ new single Even If You Are The Cactus will be available to stream from the 4th June, and you can listen to it first below.
