Having recently returned with their brand new single Resign, Aussie rockers PLANET today share video for the track. The video was filmed just a few blocks from the band’s home studio in Sydney during the lockdown and mirrors the sunny feel of the song. Watch and listen below.

Their first new since 2020, the new track follows on from the Maybe Someday EP that included singles Never New and Reason Why. The track was co-produced by the band and Grammy Award-winner Adrian Bushby (Muse, New Order, Placebo, U2, Foo Fighters). An upbeat track, Resign features lush summerly guitars and an anthemic chorus with vocalist Matty Took belting the lyrics “I’m breaking at the seams // Life was always short”.

Frontman Took comments on the meaning behind the track:

Resign is a pop summer anthem with the instrumentation hitting you straight in the face. Lyrically, it’s about not being enough in someone’s eyes and how it affects you to the point of collapse, but trying to break past it to make it work.

Guitarist Tommy Peppitt adds:

It’s the first track we’ve released that was written completely in lockdown. I had the chorus laying in the vault and sent it back and forth with Matty, fleshing it out and finishing it off.

PLANET were formed in Sydney in 2017 and consist of frontman Matty Took (younger brother of Johnny Took of DMA’s), guitarist Tom Peppitt, bassist Jimmy Weaver and drummer Harry Stewart-Weeks. They have since released numerous singles and EPs and have toured alongside DMA’s and Liam Gallagher. With over 2 million streams on Spotify and new music under their belt it won’t be long before the four piece will return to the UK.

Resign is out now via all digital outlets.
