Tyneside favourites, Pit Pony return with their first release since 2020, arriving in the shape of Black Tar. Partnering with the single’s release, the band have also announced their singing to Leeds-based record label, Clue Records, the home to the likes of Bored At My Grandma’s House, YOWL, The Wedding Present, and many more.

With Black Tar, Pit Pony return at full force, as the track bursts with energy from start to finish. Hand in hand with the release of Black Tar, the band have also shared its accompanying music video – spotlighting the live energy that they are renowned for.

Speaking about the track, vocalist Jackie Purver explains

It’s quite literally about anxiety, about putting the work in to improve things and going back to the beginning. Feeling like you can’t get anything right and you’ll feel like that forever. The whole track is the same riff throughout, driven by the constant throbbing bass, conveying the feeling of that constant cycle.

Over the past 6 months, Pit Pony have played 3 sold-out headline shows across Newcastle, supported IDLES at their sold-out Newcastle show, and have supported LIFE on their tour. Now, the band are preparing to set out on a short tour next month – starting in Manchester and working across the country before a huge support slot in Newcastle with L.A Witch.
