New York City based band Momma have announced their highly anticipated, third album, Household Name, which is set for release on July 1st via their new record label, Lucky Number. Accompanying the announcement, the band have also shared the album’s lead single, Speeding 72.

A fuzzy, climatic number,Speeding 72 tells the story of a fast-burning romance between two kids who meet at a show and decide to go for a ride. The track’s chorus, a reference to Pavement’s Gold Soundz adds a real nostalgic feel to Speeding 72.

Speaking about the single, the band states:

‘Speeding 72” is probably the most collaboratively written song on the new record. We wanted it to be the sort of summertime anthem that you can turn on during a drive to impress your crush. The most important part of the production was setting the right mood to transport the listener. The song starts with Aron getting into his car (which is featured on the album cover), and then turning on the ignition.

Further adding to the nostalgic aura presented Speeding 72, the band have also shared the track’s accompanying music video – part inspired by The Breakfast Club. Directed by Madeline Leshner and Zach Stone, the video captures the essence of the song and pairs it with a summery feel.

A 12 track album, Household Name, sees Momma return with a fine balance of heavy riffs and strong emotions, with a light-hearted, wry sense of humour to match – allowing the band to cement their place in alt-rock.
