Larkins launched Flood back in December as the third single making up their second EP Hit & Run, released on 14th February. The track follows on from previous singles Not Enough Love and TV Dream. Listen below.
2019 was an extremely triumphant year for the quartet, who made plenty of noise in sold out shows including a hometown gig in Manchester’s very own Albert Hall while also gaining support from the likes of BBC1.
The new track Flood combines contemporary synths with classic indie guitars and bass, helping Larkins to build a reputation as a groundbreaking band. Melodious synths are combined with an 80s’ tinged percussion, which credits artists who act as inspiration for the band. The joyous sound provides an uplifting vehicle for its lyrics, which provide a beacon of positivity in a world mired in bad news. The lyrics particularly appeal to young people in society, ‘we are the youth of the modern age’ blurs the boundaries between artist and friend, and the song has a feeling of unison and community.
Larkins have created high anticipation for the imminent release of their second EP Hit & Run in February, and Flood has left more than a ripple in the water.
The four piece will be touring the UK in April. Tickets are available here.
