They’re just back from a stint of sold-out, socially-distanced gigs celebrating the release of their debut album This Time Next Year. Now, Kid Kapichi – raucous, rebellious and restless – have come out with a music video for their newest hit, Fomo Sapiens.

Fomo Sapiens is the anthem for the young, dumb and beautiful. The endless cycle of going out. Overdoing it. Regretting your decisions. Dusting yourself off and doing it all again is something we’ve all done and often still do, but the longer you’re sucked into it, the more the cracks begin to show.

Co-vocalist / guitarist Jack Wilson

The debut albumThis Time Next Year, on which Fomo Sapiens is featured, was released in February. Placing at an impressive #6 in the UK independent album chart, This Time Next Year was a totally DIY effort – constructed during lockdown and mixed by the band’s own Ben Beetham (co-vocals & guitars). It is an encapsulation of both lockdown frustration and the four-piece’s confidently realised identity.

The album title has two meanings. You hear that phrase a lot, ‘This time next year’ you’ll be doing this and playing here. Sometimes you find it hard to see what you have achieved and how far you’ve come because you’re always looking ahead to that next thing. It can be a toxic way to view life, and one that is quite often the norm. On the other hand, it’s also relevant to what’s going on right now. Everyone’s lives are on pause. We’re all waiting and hoping for this time next year.

Kid Kapichi’s successes, having only just this year released their debut album, are numerous and impressive; ardent support has been garnered from BBC Radio 1, Radio X, NME, Music Week, Upset, Clash, Fred Perry Subculture and Gigwise. They also earned a Best Rock Video Newcomer nomination at the UK Music Video Awards.

With George Macdonald (drums) and Eddie Lewis (bass) completing the lineup, Kid Kapichi are raring to go back on tour – this time post-social-distancing (hopefully!). First making a name for themselves supporting the likes of Frank Carter & The Rattlesnakes, Fidlar and Slaves, Kid Kapichi have a stage presence to be reckoned with. Ferocious and euphoric, their upcoming Big Sexy tour will see them headlining across the UK and Europe. Tickets* are available as of now.
