Interpol have just announced their first new album in four years is titled Marauder and will be released on August 24th via Matador Records. Coinciding with the announcement, the New York trio have also dropped the first single from the new record titled The Rover.

For the first time in ten years, Interpol have opened themselves up to the input of a producer, namely Dave Fridmann (Flaming Lips, MGMT, Spoon, Mogwai). The album was recorded in Manhattan in 2017 inside the Yeah Yeah Yeahs’ rehearsal space. Eventually, the trio were playing so loud that a neighbor called the police, forcing them out of the practice space.

Frontman Paul Banks comments on the album’s title:

Marauder is a facet of myself. That’s the guy that fucks up friendships and does crazy shit. He taught me a lot, but it’s representative of a persona that’s best left in song. In a way, this album is like giving him a name and putting him to bed.

Following on from their 15th anniversary tour celebrating the seminal 2002 debut Turn On the Bright Lights, the band have also confirmed an initial run of worldwide tour dates with more dates to be announced. Pre-order Marauder from the Interpol store to get first access to ticket pre-sales tickets. All dates and ticket links can be found below.
