It’s been two years since Frank Turner has released his last album No Man’s Land and today the troubadour returns with his brand new single The Gathering. The upbeat track was produced by Rich Costey (Biffy Clyro, Foo Fighters) and features Muse’s Dom Howard on drums and Jason Isbell on guitar. Listen below.

The Gathering is not only the name of the new single, it is also name of Turner’s own limited edition beer launching today. Coinciding with the single and beer release, Turner has also announced a run of 9 live show ‘Gatherings’ over the summer. Tickets are available here* today, May 7th 10 AM.

The new track is anything but a lockdown song. In fact, Turner spent much of the past year writing and re-writing material. He also played a bunch of virtual shows from his living room, raising over £250,000 to support endangered grassroots venues in the UK. Speaking of the new single, Frank explains:

It’s about that moment when you come together in a room full of people, and you lean on a stranger and sing along with the chorus and get the words wrong

Speakining about going back on the road this summer, he adds:

At a time when the pandemic has wreaked havoc all across the live music industry, I feel like it’s important to get back to the basics – playing live music to entertain a crowd. This summer, with Xtra Mile and friends, I’m taking the punk approach – do it yourself, find a way. I can’t wait.

Frank will headline the shows with supports coming from the Xtra Mile label roster including Skinny Lister, Johnny Lloyd, PET NEEDS, Ducking Punches, Non Canon, Deux Furieuses, BERRIES and Guise, alongside XMR favourites Samantics. Tickets and full dates can be found below.
