Frank Turner Be More Kind press shot 2018
Frank Turner has just revealed his new album Be More Kind will be released on May 4th via Xtra Mile Recordings. Check out the artwork and tracklisting below. The first track to be revealed from the new record is titled 1933 and is streaming below.

1933 is inspired by articles Turner had come across that posit the idea that the alt-right is punk rock. He comments on 1933:

That filled me with a mixture of incredulity and anger. The idea that Breitbart or Steve Bannon think they have anything to do with punk rock makes me extremely angry.

The album’s title, Be More Kind, is derived from a line from a Clive James poem (“I should have been more kind. It is my fate. To find this out, but find it out too late”). Produced by Austin Jenkins and Joshua Block, Turner’s seventh full length once again combines Turner’s  intricate folk and punk roar trademarks.

Turner comments on the album’s title:

A lot of older, wiser people tend to say things like that, that the things that come out in the wash at the end of a human life are the way you treated the people around you. In the modern world, that’s a lesson that all of us, myself included could do to learn.

The songs on Be More Kind started coming together while Frank was touring the US with his band The Sleeping Souls in 2016. A central theme on the album is “a convergence of the ideas of personal and political”.

Turner has also announced the Be More Kind World Tour, which will begin in April, with its first leg playing to over 200,000 people across the UK, the USA, Europe, Canada, Australia and New Zealand. More dates are to come in 2019. All dates can be found below.

At 19:33 PM GMT today, Frank will be doing a very special Facebook live Q&A and acoustic performance of first track 1933.
