Fresh from their performance at this year’s Mercury Prize ceremony, Foals today reveal another new album cut Into The Surf. The track is taken from Everything Not Saved Will Be Lost Part 2 (out on October 18th), the second instalment of their current album cycle and follows on from recent songs The Runner and Black Bull. Listen to Into The Surf below.
Into The Surf showcases a softer more etheral side of Foals than the previously released heavier song. Frontman Yannis Philippakis comments:
In ‘Into the Surf’ there’s this shadow of death, of someone not returning from a voyage. There’s a type of Greek folk song that’s always to do with the immigration of Greek people and how dying on foreign shores is always viewed as the worst fate – to die far away from your home and your family.
Everything Not Saved Will Be Lost Part 2 follows on from the critically acclaimed Everything Not Saved Will Be Lost Part 1 which was released in March. Part 2 is available to pre-order on digital and limited edition physical formats from the band’s website. The Oxonian quartet have also recently released Everything Not Saved Will Be Lost – Part 1: Remixes, a collection of remixes by Metronomy, Tensnake and many others.
Across the summer, the band have appeared at Glastonbury and headlined a string of festivals such as Y Not and Truck. Any upcoming tour dates and ticket links can be found below.
