Introducing… Echo Frame

Home > Interviews > Introducing… Echo Frame

After only just beginning with his new Echo Frame project, musician and producer Luke Frame already seems to have the confidence of a far more tenured artist as he returns with his sophomore single On The Avenue.

Taking his cues from the likes of Rex Orange County and Mac DeMarco, On The Avenue. makes for a wonderfully woozy and laid-back offering. Filled with sweeping hooks, a breezy atmosphere, and his own relaxing vocal style, this is definitely one to kick back to after a hard day’s work.

So with the single available now, we sat down with him to find out more about his background and what he has in store for us again soon.

Hi Luke, how are you today?

I’m great, happy to be chatting with you!

For those that aren’t familiar with your sound, how would you best describe it?

Oh boy, my sound is quite a mix. It sits somewhere in the lo-fi indie realm, but lately I’ve been labelling all my songs “Disco Mix” so, there’s that!

You have just released your new single ‘On The Avenue’. What was the inspiration behind that release?

‘On The Avenue’ is a song that just sort of fell in my lap. I had bought a bass that day (my first ever bass) and it all blossomed from there really. It probably didn’t hurt that I had been taking lots of late night strolls with my lady. I usually end up singing some random lullaby those nights – in my head. Ahem.

And was there a particular vibe you were going for on that release?

I suppose I was trying to recreate the feeling of walking with no real destination. I wanted something you could put on after a long day and just fall into.

Can we expect an EP or even an album from you in the near future?

Yes! I’m actually working on an EP as we speak. I’m really feeling quite good about it. I’ve got a nice mix of songs in there. I think there will be a couple of unexpected sounds and vibes as well. So – something to look forward to.

Coronavirus has obviously halted the live gigs, but what do you have planned for the rest of the year?

I plan to sit in my studio and write. I’m trying to be as productive as I can and really take advantage of this downtime. Maybe a live stream or two – if that’s what the people want.

And finally, what has been your most influential moment since you started as a musician?

I went to visit my uncle before he passed away many years ago. We stayed in his tiny house and one night he brought out a guitar. I played him a few songs that I had written, and I remember him looking so proud. He said “I wish you had more you could play me”. I think to this day I’m still writing for him. Love ya Rusty! Boy, I ended on a serious note there didn’t I.
