Following on from their critically acclaimed debut album Teenage Movie Soundtrack that was released last year, North Carolina grunge rockers Heyrocco dropped their new EP Waiting On Cool in May.
The band have now revealed a video for the single Build It Up using footage straight out of a Japanese action movie.
Our video for Build It Up was calling for buildings falling and fiery explosions. Since we don’t live in LA with a big budget, we had to approach it differently. Nathan’s pen pal in Japan put on a Godzilla suit and tore down his apartment to make this video for us. Somehow within that parameter we felt there was also a statement to be made with social media obsession so we tried to tie those ideas together in a sort of end-times corollary.
The EP’s title apparently refers to the artwork in which we see Nate Merli (vocals and guitar) and Taco Cooper (drums) wait for bass player Christopher Cool (yes, that’s his real name). In between playing over 100 live shows throughout Europe, the US & Canada, the band teamed up with artist and procucer Brendan Benson of The Raconteurs and recorded the EP earlier this year in Nashville.
Waiting On Cool is available via the usual digital outlets.
