Bryde is the solo project by Sarah Howells, one half of folk group Paper Aeroplanes. In her newly released single Desire, the Welsh songrwiter explores the self-deception of lust. The track was produced with Chris Sorem and mixed by CJ Marks (Wolf Alice, PJ Harvey, St Vincent) and is performed on an electric baritone guitar (pitched between the standard guitar and a bass). Listen below.
Brydes comments on the single:
‘Desire’ is about lust, our need for instant gratification, about desire’s addictive qualities and how they can make us behave. I was inspired both by the way people have treated me and how I’ve treated others and how I’ve become unrecognisable to myself in the past just to appeal to this side of someone else’s personality.
Desire follows on from previous singles Honey and Wouldn’t That Make You Feel Good and is available as of now via Seahorse Music. Bryde’s debut album is slated for spring 2018.
